A Field Day cum Input Distribution Programme was organized at ICAR-CPCRI Research Centre, Kidu,on 23^rd January, 2025. in collaboration with ICAR-IIHR CHES, Chettalli. The event was to showcase improved varieties of coconuts, while also promoting the integration of high-value underutilized fruit crops into coconut plantations for enhanced sustainability. Additionally, the programme focused on distributing saplings of these underutilized fruit crops to Scheduled Caste (SC) beneficiaries under the SCSP (Scheduled Castes Sub Plan). The event was inaugurated by Dr. Thamban, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod, in the presence of Dr. Muralidharan K., Principal Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI Kasaragod, Dr. Samsudeen K., Principal Scientist at ICAR-CPCRI Kasaragod, Dr. Niral V., Head Crop Improvement Division, ICAR-CPCRI, Dr. Muralidhara B.M., Scientist (Fruit Science) and Dr. Nayan Deepak, Scientist (Fruit Science) from ICAR-IIHR CHES, Chettalli. The nutritional benefits and varietal diversity of underutilized fruit crops was highlighted, emphasizing their potential as intercrops in coconut plantations.

A total of 50 SC beneficiaries, attended the programme. Saplings of rose apple, Malayan apple, butter fruit, and passion fruit were distributed to the beneficiaries.
