World Coconut Day celebrated at ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Kayamkulam
Sep 02, 2024 : ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Kayamkulam | Author:web adminAs part of the World Coconut Day celebrations 2024, a farmers’ technological conclave on the theme: “Scientific Health Management in Coconut” was conducted at ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Kayamkulam on 2nd September 2024. More than 50 farmers participated in the Seminar.
In his presidential address, Dr Regi J Thomas, Head, sensitised about various technologies developed at the station for the benefit of coconut community and emphasized on the one-health concept for the welfare of the mankind. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. CPR Nair, Former Head of ICAR-CPCRI, RS, Kayamkulam. He outlined on the 'Health management in coconut,' emphasizing the importance of scientific coconut farming for doubling farm income. He provided detailed insights into various strategies to be adopted for healthy coconut farming. Mrs. Sanju Susan Mathew, Project Director at ATMA Alappuzha, was the special guest during the event. She provided detailed insight into the importance of IPDM, tackling various pests and diseases in coconut. Mr. M. Abdulla, CEO of NATA Nutrico, was the special invitee during the program. He is a successful entrepreneur and shared his experiences of successful innovations in diversified coconut products and marketing. Mr. P. Kutti, an innovative farmer who has developed a rope from arecanut was honored during the event. Dr. A. Joseph Rajkumar, Principal Scientist welcomed the gathering and Dr. Anes K.M., Senior Scientist proposed vote of thanks. In the afternoon session, the farmers visited ecological engineering garden and Agricultural processing cum incubation centre at KVK.
