A capacity building ‘Upskilling and entrepreneurship development programme’ for Schedule Caste youths was conducted at ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station Kayamkulam, from 02.01.2024 to 01.02.2024 as a part of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (2023-24).

The program was inaugurated by Smt. Sreelatha Sasi, Vice President, Krishnapuram Panchayath on 02.01.2024. Scientific coconut cultivation and entrepreneurship development programme were imparted as part of the programme. Hands on sessions along with practical exposure to technology were also inculcated on empowering the youth. Farm inputs and agricultural tools were provided to the trainees. About thirty youth from Kandalloor, Oachira, Krishnapuram and Kayamkulam municipality have taken part in the programme.

A study tour to ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram and State Soil Museum, Parottukonam were organized. Smt. Radhamony Rajan, President Krishnapuram Panchayath was the chief guest for the valedictory programme on 01.02.2024. Successful participants were given course completion certificates, climbing machine and coconut seedlings.
