Kisan Diwas 2023 was celebrated jointly by ICAR -KVK & ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod by organizing training programme to the Scheduled Caste beneficiaries on “Coconut cultivation from 21-12-2023 to 23-12-2023 at ICAR – CPCRI, Kasaragod under SCSP programme. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Manojkumar T.S, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK, Kasaragod. Dr. K. Balachandra Hebbar, Director, ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod gave the Inaugural Address. The programme was presided over by Dr. Vinayak Hegde, Head, Crop Protection Division.

Around 442 coconut hybrid seedlings of Kera Sankara (T x D) were distributed to 85 SC farmers / farm women of villages of Madhur, Badiadka, Puthige, Mogral Puttur Panchayaths as part of the training programme. During the occasion two farmers and two farm women were felicitated for their valuable contribution to farming activities. Dr. Rajkumar, Senior Scientist & Nodal officer of SCSP at CPCRI and Dr. Saritha Hegde, SMS, KVK, Kasaragod, coordinated the training cum distribution of coconut seedlings.

Swachhta Pledge was taken by the participants during the occasion. Technical sessions on “Scientific cultivation of coconut”, “diagnosis of disease & its management”, “Pest Management & EPN for bio-management of vegetable pests in coconut system” was conducted by Dr. Surekha, Scientist (Agronomy), Dr. Prathibha V. H, Senior Scientist (Plant pathology) and Dr. Rajkumar, Senior Scientist (Nematology) of ICAR - CPCRI, Kasaragod respectively. Training ended with vote of thanks by Dr Benjamin Mathew, SMS, Horticulture, KVK, Kasaragod.
