The ICAR-KVK, Kasaragod and ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod, together organized a seminar on ‘Enhancing productivity and value addition of millets’ at ICAR- CPCRI, Kasaragod, on 18.3.2023. Dr. Manojkumar T.S., Head, ICAR-KVK Kasaragod, delivered the inaugural address and stressed the need to promote millet cultivation in Kasaragod district as part of the international year of millets.

There was a lecture on ‘Suitability and prospects of millet cultivation in Kasaragod district’, followed by the introduction of entrepreneurs who have started the production of various value-added products from millets.

The KVK-trained SHG groups showed more than 60 different types of millets-based culinary products and value-added products during the event.

The meeting featured 52 farmers in all, including 5 men and 47 women. Nine representatives of the CPCRI and KVK also took part.

As part of the event various value added products from millets like millet cookies, chakli, millet ada, ragi malt were served to the participants to celebrate the event as part of International year of millets.
