World Soil Day Celebration

World Soil Day was celebrated at ICAR- CPCRI, Kasaragod on 5.12.2022 with the theme "Soils: Where food begins" at Bandadka village of Kasaragod district in collaboration with Payaswini Farmers Producer Company. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C. Thamban, Principal Scientist at CPCRI in Kasaragod. The technical session that followed the opening, featured a talk on "sustainable crop management strategies" by Dr. C. Thamban.
A lecture on "soil health management" was delivered by Dr. Neenu S, Senior Scientist, Soil Science, CPCRI, Kasaragod. As part of the event, a field demonstration of soil sample collection from the coconut garden was held.
A total of 40 members of Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) from different Grama Panchayat of Karadka Block in Kasaragod district participated in the programme.

World Soil Day at Kayamkulam was conducted by ICAR-CPCRI, RS, Kayamkulam at the Govt. Vocational Higher Secondary School, Elippakkulam on 5.12.2022. An exhibition on the importance of soil for sustainable food productivity and technologies of CPCRI was arranged as part of the workshop. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sri K.R. Hari, Principal of the VHSS. Dr. P. Anithakumari, Acting Head, ICAR-CPCRI, RS, Kayamkulam delivered a talk on the topic ‘ICAR-CPCRI@75-Research perspectives and technology dissemination’. A keynote address was delivered by Sri George Mathai, former Deputy Director of Agriculture. An essay contest for the students on the focal theme was organized and the winners were distributed prizes. The programme was attended by 130 students, faculty and staff members of ICARCPCRI, RS, Kayamkulam.
