KVK-Alappuzha celebrated Mahila Kisan Diwas (15th October) at Thrikkunnapuzha grama panchayath with various programmes. The programme was launched by Sri. S. Vinodkumar, President of the Grama Panchayath. The keynote lecture was given by Dr. P. Muralidharan, Head of KVK, who emphasised the significant role that women play in agriculture and related industries. The event was presided over by Mr. S. Sujith, Chairman of the Development Standing Committee. The event honoured Mrs. Ammini M., a septuagenarian farmer who has worked for more than 60 years manufacturing coir from coconut fibre. Approximately 65 farmwomen from various JLGs actively participated in the programme.
