ICAR – KVK – Alappuzha organized Kisan Mela in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) – Alappuzha on 26.04.22 in connection with ‘Kisan Bhaageedhari pradhamikata Hamaari’ at its premises as part of the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahothsav celebrations of Government of India. The Kisan Mela was inaugurated online by Shri. P .Prasad Hon. Minister for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Kerala. Adv. A. M. Arif, Honorable Member of Parliament, Alappuzha delivered the key note address in online mode. Dr. P. Muralidharan, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK – Alappuzha, briefed about the ‘Kisan Bhaageedhari pradhamikata Hamaari’ programme. Smt. P. Sasikala, Municipal Chairperson, Kayamkulam Municipality presided the function and honored the extension officials, best farmers and farmer groups of the district. Shri. J. Adarsh, Municipal Vice Chairman, Smt. Binu Ashok, Municipal Councilor, Smt. Rejatha, Principal Agriculture Officer, Alappuzha, Shri. N. Sukumara Pillai, Vice Chairman, Onattukara Development Agency, Smt. S. S .Beena, ATMA - Alappuzha , Project Director, Dr. Reji Jacob Thomas, Acting Head , ICAR – CPCRI, Regional Station Kayamkulam, Dr. G. Suja, Project Director, ORARS, Kayamkulam, Smt. Priya K .Nair, Director, Kerala Centre for Pest Management, Moncombu, Sri. Ramesh Sasidharan, Director, Fisheries, Alappuzha, Dr. Vinayakumar Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Smt. Treesa Thomas, District Diary Development Officer, Sri. Saji T, ATMA Deputy Project Director spoke on the occasion.

Smt. Rejatha, Principal Agriculture Officer, Alappuzha, Ramesh Sasidharan, Director, Fisheries, Alappuzha, Dr. Vinayakumar Deputy Director Veterinary and Smt. Treesa Thomas, District Diary Development Officer detailed about various development schemes implemented in Agriculturaal and allied sectors in the seminar organized on the occasion. Sri. Sunil Kumar, Agricultural Insurance Corporation took a session on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Sri Rajasekharan Nair, KCC-FLC spoke on Kisan Credit Card.

An Agricultural exhibition was also arranged during Kisan Mela in which KVK-Alappuzha, ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Onattukara Regional Agricultural Research Station, Kayamkulam, Coir Board, Odanadu FPC, Farmer First Programme – CPCRI RS, Kayamkulam, Onattukara Spices, iSTED, Farmers and Entrepreneurs’exhibited their technologies and products. Mobile Soil Test Laboratory, Alappuzha conducted live soil sample analysis for the benefit of farmers. More than 484 farmers in addition to people’s representatives and extension officials attended the Kisan Mela and agricultural seminars.
