Inaugural function of Two Skill oriented training programmes in commemoration of golden jubilee celebration at ICAR-CPCRI Research Centre, Kidu

Dr. Rajendra K V (IAS), Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Dakshina Kannada in the presence of other dignitaries inaugurated two CDB sponsored six day non-residential skill-oriented training programmes organized at ICAR-CPCRI Research Centre, Kidu.

Mr. Diwakar, Y., Scientist-in-charge of the centre welcomed the dignitaries and participants to the function by briefly introducing the guests and highlighting about the two skill-oriented six day training programme being offered under the theme, Friends of the Coconut Tree (FoCT) for 20 individuals and Coconut Handicrafts training programme for 15 persons from the backward communities, including college students in the region.

The chief guest of the function Dr. Rajendra K. V. (IAS) in the presence of Sh. Govind, N. S. (Principal, KSS College, Subrahmanya), Dr. Anitha Karun (Director, CPCRI), Dr. Ravi Bhat (Head, Crop Production, CPCRI), Dr. Niral, V. (Principal Scientist CPCRI & Contact Officer, Research Centre Kidu) and Mr. Diwakar, Y. (Scientist In-charge, CPCRI Research Centre Kidu) inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and watering the coconut seedling. Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate in his chief address appreciated the invaluable service of the institute, but and expressed his concern for farmers and farming communities of the district and requested the Director to ensure that the results of research reach each and every farmer. Dr. Rajendra K V (IAS) inspired and motivated the youth through his treasured words by aptly describing the famous quote "The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend”. He called upon the student trainees to dream big and be prepared to go beyond the comfort zone to achieve their goals and aspirations. He also called upon the trainees to make use of the skills acquired from the training for income generation and entrepreneurship development.

shri Govinda N. S., Principal of KSS college, Subrahmanya in his guest of honour address expressed his gratitude to the centre for providing opportunity for students to enroll for the training programme and appreciated CPCRI Research Centre, Kidu for its service offered to the farming communities.

Dr. Anitha Karun, Director of CPCRI Kasaragod at the outset expressed her gratitude to Deputy Commissioner and highlighted about the accomplishments of CPCRI at large and briefed about the journey of CPCRI Research Centre Kidu and the much renowned global status of the International Coconut Gene bank for South Asia and Middle East hosted at the centre. Dr. Niral, V., Principal Scientist & Contact officer of the centre proposed the vote of thanks expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants and also CDB for sponsoring the skill development programme.
