World food day was celebrated at ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute on 16.10.2021. A seminar on Plantation Crops Enterprises for Doubling Farmers’ Income was organised in virtual mode and Dr. R. T. Patil, Former Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana delivered a lecture. All the scientists including regional stations, progressive farmers and scientists from CIPHET and ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad also participated in the programme. Dr. K. Muralidharan, Nodal Officer welcomed the gathering and Dr. Anitha Karun, Director, ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod presided over the function. Dr. R. T. Patil, Former Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana highlighted the scope for plantation crops enterprises, technologies available in the plantation crop sector and efforts to be taken to compete with national and international markets. A radio talk on “Strengthening the arecanut farmers through experience sharing of progressive farmer” Dr. D.C. Chowta which was organised by Dr. C. Thamban, Princiapl Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI and Dr. Daliyamol, Scientist, ICAR-CPCRI in collaboration with AIR on 16.10.2021 for the benefit of arecanut growers.

On 16.10.2021, 5.00 pm, Scientists of CPCRI attended the programme on “An Evening with World Food Laureates - Discussion on Global Food and Nutrition Security to meet the SDGs during and after Covid 19 Pandemic” on the occasion of “World Food Day” organized by ICAR through virtual mode.
