As part of the Swachh Pakwada, a method demonstration on ‘converting kitchen waste to wealth through composting’ was organized at the residential Campus of CPCRI on 22.12.2020. Residential campus of the Institute has around 70 quarters and managing of household wastes in the campus including food and plastics is a serious issue. Composting is an easy and safe way of managing this household waste. In this regard, different types of composting techniques and its applications were briefed by Dr. Murali Gopal, Principal Scientist, Microbiology followed by a method demonstration on kitchen waste composting using jaggery and compost activator under the guidance of Dr. Mathew AC. Dr. Shameena Beegum, P.P and Mr. AO Varghese showed the demonstrations to the residents. The demonstration was successfully concluded with about 30 participants.
