National Science Day 2025

National Science Day was celebrated at ICAR-CPCRI on 28th February 2025 with the theme 'Empowering Indian youth for global leadership in science and innovation for Vikasit Bharat'. The event was graced by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Prof. Gopalan, Retired Principal from EKNM Government College, Ellarithattu, Kasaragod district who delivered an insightful speech on the significance of scientific research and its historical impact.

Prof. Gopalan highlighted the pioneering research of Prof. C.V. Raman, who made remarkable contributions to science despite the limited facilities available during his time. He elaborated on Raman's discovery of the scattering of light and its relation to quantum theory, emphasizing that even today, Raman Spectroscopy remains a fundamental tool in various research fields.

He further reflected on the golden era of Indian science, mentioning distinguished intellectuals such as S.N. Bose, Meghnad Saha, S.N. Ray, and Srinivasa Ramanujan, whose contributions significantly shaped scientific advancements. He noted that their groundbreaking work continues to inspire young minds and researchers.

Additionally, Prof. Gopalan spoke about India's remarkable technological innovations, including Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Gaganyaan missions, which have positioned India as a global leader in space exploration. He stressed the importance of scientific camps, interdisciplinary projects, and research initiatives, stating that such efforts enlighten society and nurture a scientific temper among students

The event concluded with an engaging interactive session, where students and faculty members expressed their curiosity and enthusiasm for scientific research. National Science Day 2025 served as a reminder of the importance of scientific inquiry, innovation, and the role of research in nation-building.

Dr. K. B. Hebbar, Director CPCRI In his presidential address, mentioned the recent progress in the last ten years in the Indian scientific scenario. He hoped that it would lead to much technological advancement in the future. During the occasion, the college students in Kasaragod district not only visited different laboratories to lean the advances in plantation crop research but also participated in quiz competition and the winners were awarded during the programme by the chief guest. Dr. Ponnusamy, HoD, Social Science welcomed the dignitaries and Dr K P Chandran proposed vote of thanks.
